Here is an early 90's classic. Such a cool feel-good song with a nice message. This is pop songwriting at its best.

Perhaps the greatest instrumentalist of our time, the heir to Paganini's throne. He shreds on his Stradivarius, but he can sure touch hearts too...

How about some classic Bach from the Chinese virtuoso cellist Yo-Yo Ma?

Watch the hyperbass virtuoso at work. It's not really just the technique, he writes some really nice music too.

One my favorite McLaughlin collaborations. The music fused Indian and jazz elements. The band was technically amazing, just like Mahavishnu Orchestra.

The band tried to compose a simple 3-chord rocker, and this is the "disaster" they came up with. Sammy calls Ray Charles in the outro. Cool song!

Joe composed this rocker based on the synthetic "enigmatic" scale. Weird-sounding melody. The solo is one cool avant-garde musique-concrete thingy...

If God ever tried to reach to us through the electric guitar, we can hear his voice and his message on this song. Amazing!

I truly believe that flamenco is *the* most technically demanding guitar style. Paco is perhaps the genre's greatest prophet.

Loops, backwards guitar, and a Leslie on the vocals... I wonder how shocking this song (and the album Revolver itself!) must have sounded in 1966.

What a guitar virtuoso doesn't normally do... Write a song only for the song's sake... It just grips my heart...

What a disturbingly sinister tune! This album introduced me to John McLaughlin and fusion music when I was still in grade school.

Nuno said that Jimmy Page invented all the cool guitar riffs and didn't leave any more for the rest of us. I think he was right.

When asked to comment about how technically-skilled players play with no feelings, Al Di Meola said it's all bullshit. I couldn't agree more!

I saw him play Eleanor Rigby on the streets of Gothenburg, Sweden in 1997. He was selling his CDs on his guitar case and I got one. Wow!

John Mayer's sad bluesy tune. His succinct guitar solo on the record is both fierce and raw. The groove on the coda/outro is so cool.

I always regarded Joe Diorio as one of the high priests of bebop jazz guitar. Here he's doing blues improvs ala Wes Montgomery. Coolness!

Here's the Steely Dan classic and Larry Carlton's amazing guitar solo. Took me years to understand the wisdom behind all those carefully-chosen notes.

We live in a fragile world. Our very lives are nothing but tiny insignificant momentary specks in the grand scheme of things.

I've known the Algerian rai megastar since his fame with Sting's Desert Rose. Sting is correct, he is indeed one of the world's greatest singers.

Philippines.
