My favourite band of the week, Acid Witch, shows they can rock the stoner riffs. After the cool album intro, feel the groove of "Into the Cave."

Acid Witch does this sick mash-up of sludgy, chugging, death/doom guitar and B horror movies. Leads in "Witchtanic Hellucinations" are awesome creepy.

Stonehelm's "Towers of Black." Alien, barbarian, and zombie themed stoner metal from California.

Nirvana 2002's "Mourning," found on the Swedish Death Metal compilation, or the Relapse Recordings. Authentic "Left Hand Path" era Swedish death.

I think I like this band more than I should. Solid debut. Sound is mid nineties death 'n roll. Must be the Sunlight/Tomas Skogsberg produced guitars.

Currently on tour with the mighty Entombed, Sweden's "The Generals." Thrashy death 'n roll with injected with super catchy groove.

Double shot of Sahg. "Mortify" from their upcoming third release this month. At least it does in Europe. No idea when it lands in North America.

If late Iron Maiden isn't your cup of tea, maybe Norwegian doom metal is. "The Alchemist" from Sahg's debut. Knew it must've been a prior song title.
ipecac
Solid hitter from the middle of the batting order on the new Iron Maiden album. "The Alchemist" is a shiny example of grand reunion era Maiden.
ipecac
A Clutch song possessing the most absurdly infectious chorus: "Anthrax, ham radio, and liquor." Also, Neil Fallon's beard is epic.

Zoroaster try on WtSV era Kyuss on for size, and it works for them. "Odyssey" from their new disc "Matador."
ipecac
The Kings of Frog Island have a ridiculous name, they also have ridiculous groove. "Everybody's Gonna Lose Their Heads."
ipecac
"Leaving Existence" from Darkane's "Demonic Art." Technical, thrashy, melodic death metal. Swedish extreme metal bands are remarkably consistent.
ipecac
Members of The Project Hate MCMXCIX in their other guise, Torture Division. Groovy.
ipecac
"Morbidity Awoken" from Ribspreader, because you're in the mood for crushing death vocals and rapid fire tremolo picked riffs.
ipecac
From Hooded Menace's disc "Never Cross the Dead." The unholy union of death and doom metal. Fantastic riffs, logo, and album artwork gentlemen.
ipecac
"Solar Benediction" is some fantastic doom from vets of Neurosis, Sleep, St Vitus, and Melvins. Yeah, Shrinebuilder is good.

How did I miss a new Seance album from last year? Understandably it sounds a little like Witchery, there's also some Dimension Zero in "Wasted."
ipecac
"Life is a Coma" from Demiurg, a Swedish band made up of guys from your other favourite death metal bands. Results are predictably awesome.

1349's "Psalm 7:77" is some fast and dark black metal. I don't take black metal seriously, but if I never visit Norway it's because I was scared.
