MechanicalOwl Another band I enjoyed at Escalator Fest. Coming to your town sometime soon, if you live in the midwest or Europe.
MechanicalOwl How many bands can say they had a member arrested for hijacking an airplane? The Velvet Underground seem like the Jonas Brothers next to these guys.
MechanicalOwl Well, Wooden Shjips, you were amazing at Escalator Fest, and you even played this song when I requested it near the end of your set.
MechanicalOwl Thanks Sublime Frequencies for introducing Group Doueh to the world.
MechanicalOwl BLO had an incredibly interesting career trajectory, going from heavy psych to roller disco funk, and sounding great the whole way.

MechanicalOwl I'm not sure you can come up with a more descriptive band name than Pulse Emitter.
MechanicalOwl This is the droniest drone music that ever droned. Every modern act that is described as droney owes a debt to these two.
MechanicalOwl Accordians: Not just for polka music. Pauline Oliveros is an amazing avant-garde musician, and is still going strong in her late seventies.
MechanicalOwl While I do like Roxy Music's first album, when Eno was in the band, quite a bit, I think Country Life might be my favorite.
MechanicalOwl Thanks @gwolflvr for the props. Maybe I'm old but the idea of "giving props" is still a bit ridiculous to me. Dog eat Dog and Wolf eat Wolf.

MechanicalOwl The Hired Hand - one of my favorite soundtracks ever, composed by Bruce Langhorne, the subject of the song "Mr. Tambourine Man."

MechanicalOwl Saw some whitebread reggae band do a cover of this at a street fair downtown the other day. Didn't diminish my love of it or this album though.

MechanicalOwl My favorite scene from the weirdly underrated film Rockers. God knows how often I've wanted to bust into a DJ booth and announce "this is a takeover!"

MechanicalOwl But as far as Bollywood goes, it does not get better than this. I say this without even a trace of irony. This video is amazing.
MechanicalOwl Kind of an oldie but internet goodie at this point but still entertaining.

MechanicalOwl While I do like Foghat's take on it, you really can't top the Muddy Waters circa Electric Mud version of this song.
MechanicalOwl I'm sick of people mentioning the Dead or Jefferson Airplane when I say I like psychedelic music. Why are they the touchstones and not these guys?
MechanicalOwl Speaking of black metal - I was pleasantly surprised by the Mount Eerie BM record. It sort of baffles me why there aren't more BM bands in the NW.
